The town/city is an approximate IP-based lookup using ipapi.co, with ipwho.is as a fallback. It can be inaccurate, especially with a VPN. No GPS permission is requested, and no account details, project data or photographs are sent. Only the town/city and region are cached in this browser tab for up to 30 minutes; if the lookup is blocked or unavailable, the general greeting remains.

About Laserworks
Laserworks is an independent maker tool built in Oldham, England. It turns ordinary photos and ideas into files that laser engravers, CNC routers and 3D printers can actually use — dithered engravings, ink-style plates, height maps, layered SVGs and clean cut-outs — without needing Photoshop or a design degree.
Everything in the Studio runs in your browser. Your photos are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to our servers; the only thing we store is your account and credit balance.

Common fixes: if the Background Remover seems stuck on first use, it's downloading its AI model (~40 MB) — leave the tab open. Exports are blocked when you have 0 credits; sign in to see your balance.

What we collect
When you create an account we store your email address, display name, a one-way hash of your password, your plan and credit balance, and timestamps of sign-ins and exports. If you contact us we keep the message.
What we don't collect
Images you load into the Studio are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to or stored on our servers. The AI background-removal model is downloaded to your device and runs locally.
Analytics
We use StatCounter and a self-hosted visitor counter to understand overall traffic (pages viewed, referrer, device type, approximate location from IP). These do not identify you personally. You can decline analytics cookies in the cookie banner.
Cookies
A session cookie (lwsid) keeps you signed in. It is HTTP-only and secure. See the Cookie Policy for details.
Your rights
You can ask us to export or delete your account data at any time via the Support form. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties, other than the processors named above.

The service
Laserworks provides browser-based tools that convert images into machine-ready files. It is provided "as is"; we work hard to keep it running but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.
Your content
You keep all rights to images you upload and files you export. You confirm you have the right to use any image you process. Outputs from the free Hobby plan are for personal use; paid plans include a commercial licence.
Credits & plans
Exports consume credits. Free credits are a one-time allowance. Paid plans are not yet available; when they launch, pricing and renewal terms will be shown at checkout.
Acceptable use
Don't use the service to create content that is illegal, infringes others' rights, or attempts to circumvent credit limits or protection measures.
Safety
Laser cutters and CNC machines are dangerous. Files exported from Laserworks are a starting point — always test on scrap material and follow your machine manufacturer's safety guidance. We are not liable for damage to materials, machines or persons.

We may update these terms; continued use after changes means you accept them.
